Welcome everyone to our first power rankings of season 5! This season we’ll again be ranking drivers and constructors on a weekly basis, using the same methodology as last year. Members of the media team will vote on individual drivers each week, and the number of votes each driver gets, weighted by first place votes, second place votes, etc., will determine who is ranked in the top 5. Think of it like the NCAA Football Top 25 poll, but with a lot less sponsorship money and recruiting violations. For the constructor power rankings, media members will give each team a 1-10 rating each week based on their performance in that race. Those values will be averaged over the course of the season to determine the team’s performance rating. For the preseason, we had to modify this a little, and just had each media member rank each team. At this time we won’t be ranking super-constructors, but that may change as the season goes on.
